Lonely mountain days

Mitte Oktober, Grete-Klinger-Steig, eine Kammwanderung von Vordernberg auf den Eisenerzer Reichenstein (2165m). Ich nächtigte in der Reichensteinhütte. Normalerweise ist dort ja immer ziemlich viel los, aber um diese Jahreszeit und noch dazu wochentags verirrten sich gerade mal eine Handvoll Leute auf die Hütte. Ich bin extra früh aufgestanden, um den Sonnenaufgang nicht zu versäumen, hat sich auf jeden Fall ausgezahlt. Beim Sonnenaufgang kam man sich vor wie auf einer Insel im Wolkenmeer. Der eiskalte Wind und meine blauen Finger erinnerten mich daran, dass es drinnen gleich Frühstück gab. Abgestiegen bin ich über den Krumphals und Krumpensee zurück nach Vordernberg.

Mid October, a crest tour from Vordernberg via Grete-Klinger-Steig on top of the Eisenerzer Reichenstein (2165 m.a.s.l.). I stayed overnight at the Reichensteinhütte. Normally this mountain lodge is pretty crowded, but at this time of the year and during the week there was just a handful of others staying there. I went up early to catch the sunrise, and it was worth it. When the sun rised it felt like standing on an island looking down to the sea of clouds. The freezing wind and my blue fingers reminded me that it was a good time to get back inside and have a breakfast. I went down via Krumphals and Krumpensee back to Vordernberg.

Die vier Ektachromes die ich verschossen habe, waren fast 20 Jahre abgelaufen. Die Durchlauf-Entwicklungsmaschine hatte Probleme, und hat mir ein paar Aufnahmen gefressen, weil die Filme beim Trocknen stellenweise geknittert sind (ich hatte schon einmal solche Probleme mit alten Ektachromes), die Laborcrew meinte, dass die alten Filme eine andere Temperatur brauchen, um durch die Maschine zu laufen. Sie empfahlen mir fürs nächste Mal ein anderes Labor wo noch Old-school in Hängetechnik getrocknet wird.

The four Ektachromes I shot were nearly 20 years expired. The run-through machine at the lab got troubles, and ate some of my captures, cause some parts of the film crinkled while drying (that´s the second time I got this problem with the old Ektachromes), the guys from the lab told me that they are suspecting that this old film would need another temperature to run through their machine. They told me to bring it to another shop for the next time where they do old-school hang drying.
