Zentralfriedhof in Infrared

Jeder hat so seine Lieblingsorte – über den alten jüdischen Teil des Wiener Zentralfriedhofs habe ich die letzten Jahre schon den einen oder anderen Beitrag verfasst.

Everyone has favorite places – I have written a couple of posts about the old jewish part of Vienna´s biggest cemetery over the last years.

Vor ungefähr zwei Monaten war ich wieder einmal dort, um ein paar Aufnahmen zu machen. Dieses Mal mit meiner kleinen Mittelformat Fuji GS645S und zwei Rollen Rollei Infrared.

The last time I shot some pictures there was about two months ago. I took my little mediumformat Fuji (GS645S) and two rolls of Rollei Infrared film.

Obwohl schon der Herbst vor der Tür stand, waren Gras und Blätter noch saftig und grün. Bei der tiefstehenden Nachmittagssonne in Kombination mit dem Infrarotfiter (Heliopan RG 715) ging ohne Stativ natürlich gar nichts.

Altough autumn was about to begin, grass and leaves looked still fresh and green. Because of the deep standing afternoon sun and the infrared filter (Heliopan RG 715) my tripod was a must-have.

Zur Info: Der Rollei Infrared ist ein Film der infrarot-sensibilisiert ist. Mein Infrarotfilter (Heliopan RG 715) sperrt das Licht unterhalb von 715 Nanometer aus und der Film von Rollei ist bis 795 Nanometer sensibilisiert, das heißt man überschreitet da schon die Grenze des für das menschliche Auge sichtbaren Lichts. Deswegen haben hochwertige Objektive aus der analogen Ära links neben der “Scharfstellachse” einen kleinen roten Punkt, der fungiert als Scharfstellmarkierung für Infrarot. Der Filter ist für das menschliche Auge fast undurchsichtig, daher werden auch relativ lange Belichtungszeiten notwendig. Ich belichte den Film meistens so mit 12-25Asa.

For information: The Rollei Infrared is a film sensitive for infrared light. The infrared filter I used (Heliopan RG 715) is blocking the light under 715 nanometers and the film is sensitive up to 795 nanometers, that means we are already crossing the line into light invisible for human eyes. Thats is the reason why high-quality lenses from the analog age have a red dot on the left of the focal point. This mark is your focal point when you shoot in infrared light spectrum. The infrared filter is nearly untransparent for human eyes, that means you need pretty long exposure times. I mainly shoot this film at 12-25 Asa.
