Von Rueili aus wanderten wir am “Historic trail” nach Fenqihu, von wo aus es mit dem Bus weiter nach Alishan ging.
From Ruelli we hiked the “Historic trail” to Fenqihu, from where we moved to Alishan by bus.
Der spannendere Teil des Trails war eher die Gegend um Ruelli, wo es Teeplantagen und einen Wald aus Riesenbamus gibt. Es war eine ausgesprochen schöne Wanderung, obwohl es für uns schon sehr seltsam ist, dass es bergauf und bergab immer über Stufen geht. Da fühlt man sind am Ende des Tages, als ob man den Taipei 101 im Stiegenhaus rauf und runtergelaufen ist.
The more interesting part of the trail is closer to Ruelli where you pass tea plantations and a wood of giant bamboo. It is a very nice hike, but it is very uncommon for us that there are stairs on every up and downhill sections of the trail. At the end of the day it feels like climbing the Taipei 101 up and down by stairs 😉 .
Fenqihu ist ein nettes kleines Städtchen und ein Mekka für taiwanesische Eisenbahnfreunde. Im örtlichen Lokschuppen stehen noch zwei Dampfloks der alten Forest Railway, die leider aufgrund eines Bergrutsches vor etlichen Jahren nicht mehr rauf bis Alishan fährt.
Fenqihu is a nice small town and an attraction for railway enthusiasts. There are two original steam locomotives from the old Forest Railway at the local enginehouse. What a pity, that after a massive landslide, nowadays the route is not going up to Alishan anymore.
