Donnerwand, snowshoe hike.

Einatmen, Sonne, kalte Luft und nichts als das Geräusch unserer Schritte. Das vereiste Gipfelkreuz war zugleich auch eine Warnung: keinen Schritt weiter! Eine große Schneewechte hing über die Gipfelkante hinaus.

Breathe in, sun, cold air and nothing but the sound of our steps. The iced summit cross was also a warning: No step further! A big snow cornice was hanging on the edge of the crag.

Die Donnerwand (1799m) ist ein etwas abseits gelegener Gipfel der Schneealpe. Hat man erst einmal den Taborsattel erreicht, ist die Orientierung leicht. Zur Rechten liegt das Hohe Waxenegg und zur linken gehts rauf auf das Kleine Waxenegg, von wo aus man dem Grat folgend zum höchsten Punkt der Donnerwand gelangt.

The Donnerwand (1799m.a.s.l.) is a remote summit at the Schneealpe. Once you reached the Taborsattel the orientation is easy. The Hohes Waxenegg on your right, you have to ascent the Kleines Waxenegg on your left hand side, from where you follow the crest to the highest point of the Donnerwand.
