New York, new developer

Da ich meine schwarzweiß Filme bis jetzt immer mit Promicrol entwickelt habe, hatte ich vor kurzem ein kleines Problem. Promicrol nicht mehr lieferbar, zumindest in Österreich und Deutschland. Grund dafür: der Hersteller “Champion” übersiedelte seine Produktion von Europa nach Malaysien. Das heißt mein auf Promicrol basierendes Rezeptheft kann ich jetzt kübeln. Also dachte ich mir warum nicht einfach mal den überall verfügbaren “Ur-Entwickler” (Agfas Patent dafür wurde 1891 ausgestellt) ausprobieren.

Für die NY Filme wäre es sich fast noch ausgegangen mit dem bisschen Promicrol das ich noch über hatte, fast. Zwei HP5 Filme blieben übrig. Zum Testen kamen die nicht in Frage. Super das ein halbvoller in der Pentax und ein anderer in der La sardina war. Mußte ich also nur noch ausknipsen, leichte Übung. Die Tests sind gut verlaufen, aber seht selbst! New York auf HP5+ 400Asa, entwicket 11 Minuten mit Rodinal 1+50, aufgenommen mit meinem “Arbeitstier” Fujica ST 705, Ojektiv 35mm Fujinon 1:1.9.

All my black and white pictures have been developed in Promicrol, till now. Promicrol is not available in Austria and Germany anymore. The reason is the company “champion” relocated their production from Europe to Malaysia. That means my own Promicrol based receipt book is for the dust bin. To keep things easy I decided to try out the longest available developer on the market Rodinal (Agfas patent is from 1891), it is kind of “the basic stuff” in the world of photography.

I nearly had at least enough Promicrol to do my NY pics, nearly. There were two rolls HP5 left. I definitely didn´t want to make a first try out on those films. Good that there was one half full in my Pentax and another one in the La sardina so I just had to finish them, easy 😉 . The tryouts worked well, so here they are! New York on HP5+ 400Asa, developed 11 minutes in Rodinal 1+50, captured with my “workhorse” Fujica ST 705, lens Fujinon 35mm 1:1.9.
